All Food Is Homemade

Algoma's Penguin City Restaurant, which dates back to a night in 1980 when Dennis and Linda Andre and several friends couldn't find a place for a late snack, continues to thrive on a reputation of quality food at a great price. With enthusiastic and loyal patrons, it has achieved deservedly high accolades for 20 variations of thin and deep dish pizza, savory and hearty soups, spaghetti, lasagna, sandwiches, and a dozen types of subs or croissants.

Why all the penguins? Linda and Dennis said Algoma has always been noted as one of the coolest locations in the state - often astonishing visitors that it may be 70 degrees, while Green Bay, a half hour's drive to the west, may be sweltering in a 90 degree heat wave. The Andres also named the business after Dennis' Dad's band, The Penguins.

One of the reasons for the popularity of their pizza has been the Andres' decision to use the freshest ingredients. In addition to the restaurant work , Dennis is the meat department manager at Super Valu. And that ties in beautifully with his contributions to the success of the restaurant.
